The first installment in the series adapted from the famous novel by Janette Oke, Love Comes Softly is a gentle yet profound emotional journey about love, recovery and faith in adversity.
Marty Claridge (Katherine Heigl) – a young pregnant woman – suddenly loses her husband when they have just started a new life in the Wild West. In desperation and without a place to go, she is forced to accept the proposal of Clark Davis (Dale Midkiff), a widower with a young daughter. Their marriage is initially just a temporary arrangement to get through the harsh winter together.
But it is in that simple wooden house, between frugal meals, quiet eyes and simple gestures of care, that love gradually grows – not noisy, not hasty, but gentle as the country wind.

Katherine Heigl portrays a Marty who is both tough and fragile, while Dale Midkiff brings the image of a man of few words but full of compassion.
