More than three decades after “Pretty Woman” (1990) captivated audiences around the world, the official sequel has been announced, titled “Pretty Woman: A New Chapter”. Set in modern times, the film follows Vivian and Edward – now living a peaceful and successful life – but new challenges begin when their daughter, an independent and intelligent girl, encounters social prejudices when pursuing love with a boy from a different class.

This film is not only a tribute to the classic cinema icon, but also a subtle reflection on the change of society, about love overcoming class barriers, prejudices and generational gaps. Julia Roberts and Richard Gere will return in special guest roles, passing the emotional torch to a new generation. In a In an exclusive interview, director Nancy Meyers – who has been entrusted with the responsibility of directing Pretty Woman: A New Chapter (2026) – has officially confirmed that the film is in post-production and will be released globally in late 2026. She shared:

“I don’t want to just remake an old copy. What we are building is a completely new story, but still keeping the soul of the original – which is the belief in love that transcends all boundaries.”

Nancy also said that she was a loyal fan of the 1990 version and was influenced by the late director Garry Marshall – who created a cinematic miracle from a seemingly simple script. Therefore, this sequel will have many tribute details, including some familiar scenes at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, and history-making music such as Roy Orbison’s “Pretty Woman”.

Notably, the director revealed that Julia Roberts and Richard Gere will not only appear in cameo roles, but also have deeply emotional scenes, showing the ups and downs of married life, setting the stage for the story of the next generation – played by Florence Pugh and Jacob Elordi.

“We want to talk about the choices of the new generation. Will they still believe in fairytale love like their parents? Or will they write a completely different concept of love in this chaotic era?”

With the talented direction of Nancy Meyers, an experienced production team, and a talented cast, Pretty Woman: A New Chapter is expected to not only touch the hearts of older generation audiences but also create a new wave of love among young people.
